HSU1034What is an ER-75 electro-acoustic ear simulator?
As its name already suggests, this device uses electrical inputs to simulate an acoustic environment. In this case it is simulating an ear, to perform hearing tests on. At Amplivox we recommend performing an audiometer calibration validation every morning before starting your daily routine.

ER-75 Electro-acoustic ear simulator
The ER-75 electro-acoustic ear simulator is the perfect solution for performing objective validation of audiometers and audiometric equipment, ensuring optimum performance when testing for hearing loss.

At only 500g (1.1lbs), battery powered and with a lightweight and compact design, the ER-75 can be used for both static and mobile requirements. Validation includes audiology booths and interconnecting booth cables to provide optimum performance when conducting screening audiometry tests for hearing loss.

Fast and efficient
Instrument validation can be completed in under 5 minutes, allowing users to identify if the audiometric facility (audiometer, booth, headset and all associated cables) are performing in an accurate manner. Any changes to the measurements can then be identified by comparing with previous results and remedial actions can be taken to ensure test accuracy.
Testing
Tests provide repeatable thresholds over the frequency range of 0.25kHz to 8kHz, thereby simulating the patient response and enabling the user to identify hearing loss issues. This ensures compliance at all hearing test frequencies used in an actual hearing assessment.

Automatic
As the simulator is completely automatic, validations are carried out using standard and Audiocup configured audiometry headphones (connected to the audiometer), which are placed over the ER-75’s built-in microphones.

FAQs

  • What is an electro-acoustic ear simulator?
As its name already suggests, this device uses electrical inputs to simulate an acoustic environment. In this case it is simulating an ear, to perform hearing tests on.
  • What is the recommended usage of an ear simulator?
At Amplivox we recommend performing an audiometer calibration validation every morning before starting your daily routine.
  • What is the benefit of using an electro-acoustic ear simulator?
The device simulates a normal air conduction hearing threshold in dBHL. When connected to your audiometer, an automated test can be conducted, testing this simulated normal hearing threshold. If your audiometer correctly identifies the normal hearing simulation, your equipment's calibration is valid and correct. If the measured hearing test is not according to a normal pure-tone audiogram, you are advised to check your audiometers calibration.

Please note: using an electro-acoustic ear simulator ensures optimum accuracy and reliability of hearing screening results, but does not substitute calibration of the equipment. Calibration is a technical process that ensures the medical device adheres to relevant standards and complies with medical and legal standards.
