An ultrasound scanner is often only part of the working setup. It needs somewhere to sit, a way to move between rooms, a couch to position the patient on, and a steady supply of probe covers for internal examinations. Those items are usually specified after the ultrasound machine system itself, and often later than they should be. Trolleys, Probe Covers And Room Equipment For Ultrasound Imaging
Two things tend to get overlooked when a department budgets for an ultrasound system: how it moves, and what happens around it. Both are worth settling early, because a portable scanner without a trolley ends up living on whatever surface is nearest, and a room without a suitable couch limits the positions a patient can be scanned in.
Mobile trolleys. The Mindray MT2 and UMT-200 are purpose-built carts for Mindray systems, giving the scanner a fixed home, a working height and a route between rooms. For departments running a single system across several clinics, or covering wards from a central base, a trolley is usually the difference between a scanner that gets used and one that stays where it was last plugged in.
Transducer extend modules. The Mindray Transducer Extend Module and the PEM-3 both allow three transducers to be connected at once, which can reduce how often probes are disconnected and reconnected during a list. The PEM-3 is specified for the MT2 trolley and is listed with a Pedoff connection. Where a department runs convex, linear and endocavity probes on one system, these modules save a meaningful amount of handling.
Probe covers. Parker Eclipse covers are stocked in standard and 3D versions, boxed in hundreds. These are single-use items for internal examinations, so they belong on a repeat order rather than a one-off purchase, and the 3D version exists because 3D and 4D transducers have a different housing shape from standard endocavity probes. Worth checking which your department uses before ordering a box of the wrong one.
Examination couches. The Medi-Plinth ultrasound couch is an electrically operated couch supplied in ash grey, designed for ultrasound rooms. Height adjustment matters more here than in general examination work, because the sonographer holds a probe at a fixed angle for long periods and needs the patient at a consistent working height throughout.

What is the difference between standard and 3D probe covers?
The Parker Eclipse range includes both, and the difference is the shape. 3D and 4D transducers have a different housing profile from standard endocavity probes, so a cover sized for one will not necessarily fit the other. Confirm which transducer type your department uses before placing a bulk order.
Do I need a transducer extend module?
It depends on how many probes you run and how often you swap them. These modules allow three transducers to be connected at once, so they earn their place where a department uses convex, linear and endocavity probes on the same system. Where a scanner only ever runs one or two probes, the ports on the system itself may be sufficient.
